It's important to understand your Overdraft Coverage options1. Overdraft Coverage is a part of our checking account relationship with you.2 If you don’t have sufficient funds in your account, it may pay for your Checks, ACH and Bill Payment transactions.2 Watch this video to see how Overdraft Coverage works. Fifth Third Extra Time®

With Fifth Third Extra Time (only available with Fifth Third Momentum® Checking), we give you additional time to make a deposit and avoid paying Overdraft Fees. When you’re overdrawn, we will notify you on our next business day (if you’re enrolled in account alerts) and provide an Overdraft Notice in Online Banking. You can also get this information by calling us or stopping by your local branch. Extra Time gives you longer—anytime before midnight ET—to make a deposit that brings your available balance to at least $0. You must deposit enough to cover all items that caused your overdraft plus any outstanding checks, automatic payments, or pending debit card purchases that may be presented that business day. If you bring your available balance to at least $0, we will not assess any Overdraft Fees. If you do not use Extra Time to make a deposit, or if your deposit is not enough to cover all items that caused your overdraft plus any new transactions, you may be assessed per-item Overdraft Fees. Extra Time does not apply to items that are returned unpaid.

Overdraft Coverage for Debit Cards3 and ATM transactions:

You also have the option of enrolling in Overdraft Coverage for ATM transactions and everyday debit card purchases. This service allows you to make Debit Card purchases or ATM withdrawals even if you don’t have enough money in a particular account. When you opt-in to Overdraft Coverage (ATM/Debit Card), there are fees for each item the bank pays on your behalf. When you choose not to opt-in to Overdraft Coverage (ATM/Debit Card), your card transactions are automatically declined and no per item overdraft fees are applied to those transactions.

If Overdraft Coverage is used:

For all Fifth Third Checking accounts*, the fee for each overdraft will be $37, per item, regardless of the number of past occurrences. Additionally, we will only charge Overdraft Fees for a maximum of five overdrafts per day. If your consumer deposit account is overdrawn for seven consecutive days, we will charge a $10 Extended Overdraft Fee on the next business day. We may charge you this fee every 7 days, up to a maximum of four times per continuous overdraft occurrence.

For all accounts, you will not be charged per-item Overdraft Fees if your account is overdrawn by $5 or less at the end of the business day.

With Extra Time® (only available with Fifth Third Momentum® Checking), we give you additional time to make a deposit to avoid paying Overdraft Fees for items paid with Overdraft Coverage.
